Black Friday is here, and while most people are busy lining up for discounts on TVs and gaming consoles, I’m over here looking at the deals Changelly is offering. If you haven’t heard of them, they’re a pretty popular instant crypto exchange platform. This year, they’ve rolled out some promotions that caught my eye. But before I dive in, let’s take a step back.
What Are The Deals?
So here’s the rundown of what Changelly is offering this Black Friday:
First off, they have reduced fees for crypto exchanges. Apparently, if you use their service to exchange $500 or more and enter the promo code BF2024, you can get a special discounted rate. They’re claiming it could save you up to $1,000 on fees. Not bad if you're moving large amounts.
Then there’s a $5,000 giveaway for five lucky winners who complete any purchase or exchange at floating rates through December 6. Just by using their platform during this period, you get entered into the draw.
Lastly, there’s a 50% discount on service fees for those looking to buy crypto directly through their fiat provider Topper by Uphold. If you apply the promo code BUY2024 during your transaction, you can save some cash there too.
Are These Promotions Driving Adoption?
Now let’s talk about whether these kinds of promotions actually help drive adoption of cryptocurrencies. On one hand, I see how lower fees might encourage people to move from traditional finance into crypto. If someone is on the fence about converting some fiat into digital assets and sees that Changelly is offering a better deal than other platforms, they might just go for it.
But then again… aren’t these kinds of promotions just temporary? Once people get used to paying lower fees on one platform and then go back to paying higher ones on another because “that’s just how it is”, isn’t that just as likely?
And let’s not forget about security concerns. Changelly has been around for a while but wasn’t there an incident last year where they were allegedly hacked? That kind of thing sticks in my mind when considering which crypto wallet and exchange to use.
Summary
I guess what I’m trying to say is: Black Friday deals in crypto are nice and all but maybe we shouldn’t be rushing headlong into things just because there’s a discount involved? As always with these things: do your own research!
