As we all know, crypto communities can be a wild west sometimes. I think the mods of this sub are doing their best to make it a safer place with these new rules. But are they really necessary? Let's take a look.
The Need for Security in Crypto Spaces
Look, I get it. We all love our freedom and the chaotic nature of crypto culture. But there's no denying that security and integrity are essential for any community to thrive. By making things a little stricter, maybe more people will feel safe here and actually participate instead of just lurking.
The Changes Explained
So what exactly did the mods change? Well, they basically locked down the giveaway posts and user flairs.
Giveaways now can only be hosted by users with specific flairs (those assigned by the mods). And you can only participate in giveaways if you have one of those flairs. Also, no NSFW stuff or avatars not owned by the user allowed in those flairs.
To get your user flair, you need to be active in the community for at least two weeks and show some verifiable activity (no alt accounts please!).
And of course, there are new criteria for hosting giveaways:
- Must have a user flair.
- Must be for avatars or works of avatar artists.
- No tokens.
- No wallet connections.
- Clear participation rules.
- Winners must be rewarded within a reasonable timeframe.
Community Feedback
Honestly, I was expecting more backlash from these changes. But most comments I've seen are along the lines of "Cool! Now I know this is a safer place." Some even went as far as requesting their user flairs directly in the comments!
Summary: A Safer Artvatar?
I don't know about you guys, but I feel like these new rules might actually work out pretty well. Sure, they're a bit annoying if you're already verified and active here (like me 😎), but they might help cut down on scams and bots.
What do you guys think? Are these new rules making Artvatar a safer place? Or are we just locking down an already friendly community?
