Path of Exile Tattoo Farming: What I've Learned So Far

Discover efficient tattoo farming strategies in Path of Exile, focusing on shipment sizes, port quotas, and dust impact. Enhance your gameplay with community insights.

I've been diving deep into tattoo farming in Path of Exile (PoE), and let me tell you, there's a lot to unpack. With the right knowledge about shipment sizes, port quotas, and even dust, you can really optimize your farming game. Here's a breakdown of what I've discovered.

Shipment Sizes Matter More Than You Think

First off, I learned that the size of your shipment is crucial for getting those elusive tattoos. According to some recent research (and by recent, I mean community-driven), a shipment size of 300k seems to be the sweet spot. This size guarantees at least one tattoo based on a decent sample size—25 shipments to be exact. Going bigger? Well, it doesn't seem to pay off as much as you'd think.

Interestingly enough, it doesn't matter where you're shipping to—Ngakanu or Te Onui; the results are consistent across destinations.

Here’s What I Found:

  • 300k Shipment Size: Guarantees at least one tattoo.
  • 275k Shipment Size: No tattoos yielded; this was a hard no.
  • Higher Shipment Values: They do yield tattoos too but at an expensive rate.

Dust and Port Quotas: The Lesser Influencers?

Now let's talk about port quotas and dust. My initial assumption was that they would play a big role too, but it seems like port quotas don't really affect things much. Most samples in the research avoided them and still got consistent results.

As for dust? Well, it's complicated. Some folks in the community have reported mixed results when adding dust to their shipments. One user even noted three consecutive shipments yielding one tattoo each without any dust added!

Community Voices:

  • Dust's Role: Still up in the air; more research needed.
  • Port Quotas: Seemingly negligible effect on yields.

Community Theories and Ongoing Research

What’s fascinating is how active the PoE community is around this topic. One user shared their experience with a 405k shipment that had three tattoos! But then another user chimed in with three consecutive 300k shipments—with dust—yielding zero tattoos. Talk about conflicting data!

One notable contributor even suggested that maybe reaching 300k with just materials (excluding dust) might guarantee a tattoo.

Wrapping It Up

So there you have it! Tattoo farming isn't as straightforward as I'd hoped but knowing that a 300k shipment size is likely my best bet makes things easier. Port quotas seem minimal while dust needs more investigation based on community feedback.

I plan on doing more research myself—especially into those higher shipment values—and I'll definitely keep an eye out for any new community findings popping up.

If you're looking to optimize your tattoo farming in PoE like I am, hopefully this info helps! And hey, if you have your own experiences or data points to share, please do!
